Episode 3 of The Art of Living Well Podcast is up, “My Take on Centering Prayer”
Yes. yes. Yes. Superb and balanced, piece, Father (But then that’s because I agree with it!). 🙂
For me, the biggest ‘take away’, is that of your last main point: proper formation. It is that very area that so many are led by the nose into error by ‘Modernists’ including that flavour of ‘Centring Prayer’. It’s not deliberate dissent by most, but the result of neglect in healthy formation, so they cling onto anything that claims to help owing to the lack of anything better.
I found this article by Dr Thomas Richard over at H&PR very insightful and helpful, as well as relevant to this podcast, too:
‘Disciple-Making with Mercenary Love’

Hello Father! I am so happy you started doing podcasts. I am a big fan of them… in all honesty I think I subscribe to too many. There are just so many good ones.
Anyway, I have enjoyed yours so far and encourage you to keep them up. You asked for feedback, so I hope you don’t mind if I offer it.
First, like I said, I really like it. I think they could be a bit longer, but definitely don’t force anything just to make them longer by a few minutes.
Second, maybe you could post your homilies as podcasts?
Third, it would be helpful to put a podcast tab along the top like you do for video.
Fourth, this is more of a personal request: I would really like to hear more about Maronite spirituality and how you moved from that to being a diocesan priest… how you were led to do so.
Fifth, and this is likely the biggest ‘criticism’ (and it might just be me): the opening/closing music is somewhat jarring to me each time I hear it. It does not seem to fit your topics. Now, I realize this is more of a personal preference, but I just thought I would throw it out there.
Finally, I cannot remember if it was this podcast or not (I listened to a couple today on my way to/from Raleigh) but I found your comments on T. Merton interesting. Mainly because I have a similar experience. I was encouraged by much of what he wrote — I especially appreciated No Man is an Island. But I have tended to notice over the past few years that I am just not as big of a fan anymore.
Thanks again for your work. I appreciate it!
Thanks for the suggestions
