I hope we are indeed rebuilding. From this convert’s perspective, we have a mixed bag. Historically speaking, some aspects of culture have advanced toward kindness and compassion, and others have retreated toward more pagan sensibilities.
Within, there seems to be on one hand a growing authentic love for Christ and his church, and on the other hand a lot of indifference for the treasure trove of truth and beauty that the Church holds, and even for the blessed sacrament.
Without, the world at large clamors for truth, beauty and purpose, and at the same time seems to have a way to go to find the end of the “whatever I want is what’s morally right” landslide. Then again, so do I at times – hence the sacrament of reconciliation.
Christ and his love and mercy will and must prevail.
