Tradition vs. Development. Why not both?
Amen. Clearly summarised so people can understand.
I tend to use the words ‘augment’ ( as in Aeterni Partis – ‘vetera novis augere et perficere’- augment and perfect the old with the new) and ‘contextualising the faith’ rather than making it ‘relevant’.)
Have dropped off social media and from following many Catholic blogs. Becoming too toxic, so sorry for not being in touch. I haven’t forgotten you as you’re one of the few out there not getting wrapped up in certain debates (distractions), but remain focused on making and strengthening disciples.

Probably no coincidence but the Institute of Catholic Culture is currently presenting a two-part series on the development of Dogma. Last night there was an interesting distinction made between Dogma and Doctrine. Without the Tradition, the authenticty of proposed notions of development of Dogma cannot be evaluated.
