We live in exciting times. New technology. New insights. A constant flow of information innovation. In the midst of this constant stream of activity we have to recognize that life is also incredibly stressed. Anything worth doing and anything worth pursuing involves blood, sweat and tears. And if we are not careful, we can be consumed by stress and exhaustion.
It sounds like you are speaking of that “rest” that God “rests in”.
Getting to the place where we know our completeness, our actual union with God by the presence of his Spirit in us.
It is not the rest of sitting in non-movement, but the rest of “fulfillment of being who we are”. Our completion is that of a “being in operation”, not a “being in non-movement”. God is fully complete, yet not without movement, but it is a movement of operation of his completeness, without any anxiety or stress of becoming satisfied; he is satisfied, and operating his being, which is Love, a pouring of his whole being out, Father into Son, Son into Father, Father and Son into us; “The Spirit of God moved over the waters” (operated).
When we look deep within to know our actual union with God, that “YOU ARE actually in me and containing me, and I AM in you, by your Grace”, then we can calmly look out and move in our day as a person “complete”, not a person anxious or stressed to reach some fleeting completions that seem to say, “You will be satisfied if you reach this completion”. Instead we move virtuously in the world, acting in our knowing of who we are already in Him and with Him; we “operate” like our Father who is at rest always working, rather than scramble to find “rest” of non-working.
