It is sort of hit or miss if I watch the videos. I prefer the written posts. Anyway, I had to watch this one, though; the title got me! 🙂
Interesting…. I wonder if it would be different in a different culture. I think, or like to think anyway, that here in the south there is still the expectation of politeness. So maybe there is an inherent hesitancy to ask a priest a potentially difficult question that might lead to conflict. Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Or maybe it is just that you don’t interact enough with non-Catholics. Personally, I think that is my situation. When we joined the church about 10 years ago (time flies!!!), most of our friends were Protestants. Now, most of our friends are definitely Catholics.
That makes sense and is probably at the heart of why my circle has changed. For the most part, most of my energy is spent working with loyal parishioners who need spiritual direction and guidance. I would not move in spaces where Catholics interact with non-Catholics… that is why we need our parishioners to be equipped to have those conversations in the public domain.
